## What it is

Workspace ONE is not a product. It is the name Omnissa gives to the family that manages
endpoints and governs what those endpoints may reach. Unified endpoint management sits in
the middle of it. Around that sit the app catalogue, the per-app VPN, remote support,
mobile threat defence and the experience analytics, and each of them is bought separately
or included depending on the edition.

## Why the edition matters more than the product name

Omnissa sells Workspace ONE by edition, and its own comparison document names nine of
them: Employee Essentials, Mobile Essentials, Desktop Essentials, UEM Essentials, Server
Essentials, Standard, Advanced, Enterprise and Platinum.

The question a reader almost always arrives with is whether a given capability is already
paid for. The answer is in that document, as a grid of ticks, dashes and the word
“Add-on”, and it changes between revisions.

## What this site does not claim

The cards under Workspace ONE say which products exist and which of them Omnissa lists as
separately purchased add-ons, because both of those are printed in words. They do not say
which edition includes what. That is a matrix of tick marks in a PDF, it moves, and
reading it off by column position is how a partner ends up telling you that you own
something you do not.

## What to watch

The licence is per device or per user, and the two are not interchangeable: a per-device
licence covers one device, a per-user licence covers five. On an estate where people carry
a laptop and a phone, that single line decides the shape of the whole quote.
