Draft, not yet reviewed. When Horizon projects fail, it is on profile management, on printing, and on line-of-business applications that expect a local install. So we plan those three before the sizing.

## What it is

Horizon delivers desktops and individual applications from the datacentre to whatever
device someone is sitting at. The desktop runs centrally and only the display is sent.

## What it is for

Workplaces where the data should not leave the datacentre, short-lived environments such
as training rooms and test benches, and line-of-business applications that do not
sensibly distribute across a thousand endpoints.

It does not replace a managed laptop. The two solve different problems and coexist in
most estates.

## What changed

VMware's end-user computing business was spun out and has traded as Omnissa since 2024.
The product stayed, and the contracts and the roadmap changed with it. If you still carry
Horizon under a VMware agreement, know where you stand before the next renewal.
